Bottle Rockets
Explore pressure, force, stability, and flight with a water-powered rocket.
Physics + aerospaceFree monthly STEM adventures
After School Engineering helps neighborhood kids imagine, build, test, and discover through hands-on projects led by caring community volunteers.
Our mission
We create welcoming, low-pressure opportunities for children to explore science, technology, engineering, and math in their own community.
Each event centers on a real challenge. Kids ask questions, sketch ideas, build prototypes, test what works, and try again. The goal is not a perfect projectβit is confidence, teamwork, creativity, and the joy of figuring something out.
What kids will build
Projects are playful, approachable, and packed with real engineering ideas.
Explore pressure, force, stability, and flight with a water-powered rocket.
Physics + aerospaceBuild a lightweight bridge, test its strength, and redesign it.
Structures + testingCreate a protective system that keeps a fragile payload safe.
Materials + energyUse simple mechanisms, sensors, or building components to make something move.
Coding + machinesDesign and race a vehicle powered only by escaping air.
Motion + iterationCreate a working circuit with batteries, LEDs, and switches.
Electricity + designFeatured event
Design, decorate, and launch a water-powered rocket while learning how pressure, balance, and aerodynamics affect flight.

What children take home
The belief that difficult problems can be broken down and solved.
Freedom to try unusual ideas and learn there is often more than one answer.
Practice listening, explaining, building together, and celebrating shared success.
A stronger habit of asking why, testing what happens, and learning from results.
Help us grow
There are many ways to help more children experience hands-on STEM learning.
Lead an activity, support a small group, photograph an event, or assist with setup.
I want to volunteer βSupport project supplies, safety equipment, snacks, and take-home engineering kits.
Support a project βBusinesses and community groups can fund a monthly challenge and volunteer as a team.
